Imperfect Creativity.

I grew up feeling like anything I created had to be perfect.

Whilst there's a lot to unpack in that statement alone, it has been a driver for me to pivot away from perfectionism and creating something that was polished to something that was raw and full of authenticity.

I wrote a while back about my journey pf pivoting from perfectionism, and a large part of my road blocks was that I was only showing my 'gift' with the world when I felt it was truly finished.

No 'work in progress' or discussion about how I messed it up.

I horded my creations like they were going out of fashion. Locked away, ever to see the light.

Until I realised how much of an unkindness that was to myself, my soul and the intentions behind my artistic manifestations.

Sharing our hearts in any medium is not designed to be polished or perfect. It's encouraged to be raw, authentic and instill that fuzzy feeling within.

It's supposed to be thought provoking in the most confusing way, encourage ourselves to question what it is we are seeing and why do we react to it so much, or even why do we react at all.

How did we become so numb to feeling the depths of hearts. What we can discover about ourselves when we are uncomfortable can be incredibly profound, yet so often we choose to ignore and bury it in light of maintaining the highs.

What if, by knowing the imperfect, the raw and flawed ways we engage with the world, we discover range and experience balance.

I suppose, what all of this is leading towards is to seek the imperfect creativity. The act of creating, by any means, is utilising those threads of magic that exist in your soul and pulling them forth.

The practice is about finding connection. Between your heart and soul. Your thoughts and voice.

Your being to your surrounding environment.

To showcase your authenticity of who you are in the way you hold yourself together.

Raw.

Authentic.

Imperfectly perfect.
